Procession
On Saturday, 15 March, a procession will connect the exhibition Zwischenraum in the )Pförtnerloge(, the exhibition Visionäre Räume. Walter Pichler meets Friedrich Kiesler in einem Display von raumlaborberlin in the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum (Kunstmuseen Krefeld) and the southern end of Krefeld’s Westwall.
Protagonists from all three locations, together with children from Krefeld, carry visions for the city.
Krefeld residents are cordially invited to join in.
Zwischenraum is an exhibition by Ute Reeh (Zentrum für Peripherie) that makes open processes and their form visible and tangible. The visions from and for Krefeld carried on the procession were created in the intermediate space. The exhibition will take place from 03.12.2024 to 15.03.2025 in the porter’s lodge.

The exhibition project Visionäre Räume is dedicated to the important avant-garde artists Friedrich Kiesler (1890-1965) and Walter Pichler (1936-2012). Both worked on the boundary between sculpture and architecture. The third position in the show, the interdisciplinary collective raumlaborberlin, took on the artistic-architectural design and realised a display that makes it possible to view these utopian projects from today’s perspective. Also in collaboration with raumlaborberlin, a UtopiaLab was created in Studio 2 of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum, where visitors can make objects and object parts themselves. These will now be included in the procession.
The city of Krefeld has long-term plans to remodel the Westwall. The Mobifant winter playground is currently being built there, a space for young members of urban society on the southern Westwall. Some of the visions supported by the city were created for the Mobifant winter playground.
The procession makes the connection between these three projects visible and carries their potential into the city.
