The projects of the Zentrum für Peripherie comprise longterm projects, temporally limited, and iteratively instanced projects handling different topics or aims. Besides abstract or transregionally oriented projects, certain projects represent undertakings specifically designed for the regions Pignitz in the north-west of eastern Germany – and in a greater context, eastern Germany in general – as well as Düsseldorf in the west of western Germany. With the projects, great importance is placed on correspondences and exchange between institutions and individuals (institutionally bound, scholars, but also directly affected or participating persons, including children). As far as possible and appropriate, people living in the respective regions and in the immediate vicinity of practical endevours’ locations are involved and integrated to actively participate in both the development and in the realisation of the projects. That includes projects of rather abstract character, as well as practically oriented projects with a potentially direct impact on the population.
