Rosa Jijon (*1968 Quito) studied in Ecuador, Cuba and Sweden and lives in Quito and Rome.
Jijón’s work deals with the idea of strangeness and human mobility in migration contexts. It is based on mutual exchange and collaboration with groups and local migrant and human rights organisations. From November 2013 to March 2015, she was director of the Contemporary Arts Center in Quito, Ecuador. From 2016 to 2022, Cultural Secretary at IILA, Rome. Recent exhibitions: 23rd Sydney Biennale, 2022; BNL Media Festival Award, Rome, 2016; IV Bienal del Fin del Mundo, Valparaiso, La Plata, 2014-2015; 54th Venice Biennale, 10th Cuenca Biennale, October 2010; 10th Havana Biennale, March 2009.
